Making Finances Simple. Changing Lives.
The IRS has set Wednesday, May 13 as the deadline for entering direct deposit info into the “Get My Payment” link on the IRS site. After this date, the IRS will begin mailing payments not yet sent, which will delay the receipt of payments.
Entering this banking data pertains to taxpayers who owed taxes on their Federal return for 2018 and 2019 (since banking info is only otherwise entered on returns with refunds). NOTE: Taxpayers who didn’t choose direct deposit on their most recent tax return can use the “Get My Payment” tool to input bank info to receive their payment by direct deposit. However, if a taxpayer has filed their 2018 return and needs to update either their mailing address or banking info for a stimulus payment, they will need to file their 2019 taxes immediately! Taxpayers cannot update their bank account or mailing address with the “Get Your Payment” tool. We'll continue to provide updates as necessary to keep you informed. Comments are closed.
