9/26/2017 Equifax Data BreachWe’re receiving a lot of questions about the recent Equifax Data Breach, so we wanted to give you some timely info on this..... What Happened: Equifax, one of the three credit bureaus, had a major data breach that is said to be affecting 143 million people...so pretty much everybody! This means thieves could have access to all your personal information such as full name, date of birth, social security number, etc. It’s not an actual ID theft event, but could definitely lead to massive waves of this in the near future. Two Immediate Ways To Protect Yourself: 1) Place a fraud alert on your credit report at www.experian.com/fraud. This will protect you with all three credit bureaus as Experian communicates your alert with TransUnion and Equifax as well. You will be given an opportunity to review your credit report after placing your fraud alert. Review it for suspicious information. 2) Consider an Identity Theft Insurance policy. This service is different than standard credit monitoring in that ID Theft Insurance can provide restoration & reimbursement services. This is critical in the event your ID is compromised as it will save you time, effort, and money in getting things back to normal. Feel free to contact us with any questions...we’re happy to help!!
